Designer Zoe Chicco creates modern, sexy yet elegant pieces that are significant enough to be worn alone, but delicate enough to layer. Zoe discovered her knack for jewelry at a young age, majoring in metalsmithing in college before embarking on a horizon-expanding sojourn at the Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy.
COUTURE: How many years have you exhibited with COUTURE?
Zoe Chicco: This is my 6th year.
COUTURE: What’s your COUTURE uniform?
ZC: I dress it up a bit for Couture with dresses and pants (I’m typically in jeans), and I tend to keep to a black and white color story.
COUTURE: What’s your guilty pleasure while in Sin City?
ZC: Other than daily cocktails and gorging myself at the Couture buffet?! I do usually do a little shopping at night – there such great stores and everything is open late so I tend to pick out something out to reward myself for what is hopefully a successful show and all the hard work that goes into it.
COUTURE: Do you have any tips for staying sane?
ZC: Coffee in the morning, wine at night and make sure to get enough sleep!
COUTURE: Vegas theme song?
ZC: I have a “Let’s get PUMPED!” playlist that consists mostly of 90’s hip hop that is always my go to when gearing myself up for anything. So, “Can I Kick It” (yes you can!) by Tribe Called Quest seems like a fitting theme song for my Vegas vibe.
COUTURE: Vegas Survival Tips and Tricks?!
ZC: I have had some great tips passed on to me that have really helped – drink tons of water, request a humidifier in your room, ice your feet at night and don’t wear the same shoes 2 days in a row!
COUTURE: Whose collection, other than your own, are you most excited to see this year?
ZC: Honestly I rarely leave my booth at the show, but when I do get a few minutes I do like to try to get around and visit with friends and see what they have been up to. In my opinion Couture is the show where the finest designers in the industry are all gathered together under one roof, so every collection exhibiting is impressive in their own right.
COUTURE: What are you most excited to showcase this year?
ZC: I’m really into the large and mix-matched ear trend that is happening right now…so I went a little crazy on earrings this season. I’m also doing a color story with Gemfield’s emeralds, which is a bit of a departure for me, so I am excited to see how that is received.
