UK-based designer, Polly Wales, strives to make jewelry that showcases an honest, imperfect beauty. Her jewelry, made by casting diamonds and gemstones directly into precious metal, never has that shiny, “brand new” feeling but rather, contains a depth and warmth that is more in keeping with the women who wear and collect her jewelry. Relatively new to COUTURE, Polly created a buzz when she first hit the scene a few years ago, and her collection continues to evolve and inspire awe.
COUTURE: How many years have you been exhibiting with COUTURE?
Polly Wales: This will be my third. My last in Design Atelier.
COUTURE: Vegas Uniform?
PW: COUTURE is a great excuse to dress up. It’s my opportunity to wear my “fantasy wardrobe,” swooshy dresses and awesome jewels.
COUTURE: Vegas Mantra?
PW: Stay true to what you do. There is such an array of incredible jewellery at COUTURE that it’s easy to be intimidated by giant diamonds and pearls when designing a new collection for the show. You have to forget about that and be true to your own vision.
COUTURE: Vegas Theme Song?
PW: In honor of Prince I’ll go with “Diamonds and Pearls” this year.
COUTURE: Vegas Evening Ritual?
PW: Pretend you’ll make it back to your room to freshen up, but just go to the pool and have a cocktail instead!
COUTURE: Sanity Tip?
PW: Hang out with good people! I love the wonderful, sound and talented people at the show that have become friends. They are the bedrock.
COUTURE: What’s the one piece/collection you’re most excited to launch?
PW: The new Ourika Collection has some amazing, one-of-a-kind shield rings I’m very excited about. The collection has so many new directions, it feels fresh and new and pretty powerful too!
