Viva Las Vegas with Genevra Rao

I sometimes think we should change Genevra Rao’s title from Operations Manager to something more applicable to her actual day-to-day tasks. For the COUTURE team, she’d be more appropriately named Show Mom. For the designers and brands she works with on establishing every single detail in building their salons, she’s more of a Show Guide (like a spirit guide, but for dealing with GES), or Hand Holder or, in some cases, Therapist. To me, I’ve always referred to her as “Get ‘er Done Genevra” because if you want something done, ask Genevra (oops, sorry G, the cat’s out of the bag on that one!). Under that sometimes tough-seeming exterior, she’s also one of the sweetest people in the world, and always makes time to hear a complaint and offer advice or commiseration.

COUTURE: How many years have you been working with The COUTURE Show?

Genevra Rao: 8

COUTURE: Vegas Uniform?

GR: A dress and kick ass heels

COUTURE: Vegas Mantra?

GR: Get ‘er dun? (Really it’s more like, “Just 5 more days…just 4 more days, just 3 more days…”)

COUTURE: Vegas Theme Song?

GR: “Waking up in Vegas” by Katy Perry

COUTURE: Vegas Evening Ritual?

GR: Trying to sneak past colleagues in Tower Bar so I can get some much needed rest

COUTURE: Sanity Tip?

GR: Walk outside for at least 5 minutes each day to breathe real air. Try not to time it at the same time as the Europeans’ smoke break 🙂

COUTURE: What are you most looking forward to at COUTURE 2016?

GR: The beautiful jewelry, the creative exhibits and displays, the Design Awards, and being at the Wynn.
