Since COUTURE 2015 wrapped, we’ve gotten so many media requests for a variety of images from publications based across the globe. This has given me ample excuses to re-live the week we all spent together by scrolling through all of the images our fabulous photographer Sandro captured. And while it seems almost silly to be nostalgic for something that happened just a few weeks ago, I know I’m not alone in this feeling. So herein, some of the highlights of the week, in pictures.
Opening day was amazing and everyone seemed to be kicking the week off on a high note. We know people are having a good day when nobody has time to do more than give us a quick wave as we walk past their salons!
Given that 2015 was COUTURE’s 20th Anniversary, we were so excited to welcome back Platinum Guild International. They did an amazing job of creating a retrospective of platinum at COUTURE since 1995, with a look ahead to the future.
One of the highlights of the show every year is, of course, our Opening Night Event. Our fearless leader, Gannon Brousseau, is so personally involved in every aspect of this evening; it’s so important to him and to all of the team that we provide something spectacular for everyone who is invited. Once again, I think we delivered! A personal highlight of this evening for me was the drum line! Many of us had been pushing for this for months, so to see the entire audience bum rush to the front to snap pictures and videos of this incredibly animated group was amazing.
And then, of course, there was Fitz and the Tantrums. While the entire band was incredible, I think the audience was especially smitten with Noelle, the Co-Lead Singer extraordinaire, who brought some serious high wattage energy to the stage.
A highlight of every year, for every designer and attendee of COUTURE, is our COUTURE Design Awards. This year, our panel of judges took an unprecedented amount of time discussing the merits of each piece before deciding on the finalists and winners. We are so thankful to Maria Doulton, Marion Fasel, Irene Neuwirth, Lou Guarino and Paul Schneider for the seriousness and intensity they brought to the judging process.
And then there was the presentation of our award winners on Saturday night. Oh, what a night! We had so many amazing presenters–both retailers and editors–and the enthusiasm in the room was electric!
Another highlight of the evening was watching Todd Reed receive the Human Spirit Award. The video announcing this honor can be seen here.
The rest of the week gave some of us the opportunity to actually see some jewelry and talk to some friends, although there never really is enough time to do either of those things, not with this crowd, anyway!
