Couture Musings

Oh What a Night!

The COUTURE community shined last Friday night at the 13th Annual GEM Awards, where we celebrated the remarkable achievements of our brands, designers and friends.

A combination of innovative design and attention to detail earned Stephen Webster the award in the Design category. Stephen was matched against the equally talented and imaginative nominees Todd Reed and Alexis Bittar. The team at Shinola took home the award for Marketing and Communications, in tough competition with fellow nominees Forevermark and timepiece brand Tudor.

Claudia Mata, who oversees all jewelry and accessories editorial coverage at W Magazine, was recognized with the GEM award for Media Excellence. Mata was up against media champions Maria Doulton, founder of The Jewellery Editor, and Jack Forster of Revolution Magazine USA.

The top honor of Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Larry Pelzel of Neiman Marcus, who is credited with not only building the brand’s jewelry division, but truly impacting the lives of those with whom he works. Pelzel has worked in the fine jewelry industry for more than 30 years, and announced from the award stage that he plans to stay for years to come.

Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees, and thank you for the drive and passion you bring to our industry and community. COUTURE celebrates your success and impact on our community.
