Getting into the Spirit with Marissa Collections

Naples, Florida is the stuff vacation dreams are made of! Pristine beaches, cafes and wine bars galore and, of course, the coral hued beacon of fashion that is Marissa Collections! From Alexander McQueen to Zac Posen and everything in between, Marissa Collections boasts a curated collection of clothing, shoes and accessories. Obviously, the highlight of the Bergdorf-like atmosphere is most definitely the extensive and sprawling display of fine jewelry! One of the things that’s so cool about Marissa Collections is how loyal their client base is. The Jewelry Buyer, Jennifer McCurry, is in constant communication with her clients, emailing and texting them images of pieces she knows they’ll love, right from the Couture floor! Over the years, they’ve come to trust Jennifer and the stylists working at Marissa Collections to dress them from head to toe to earlobe! We caught up with Jennifer (aka JJ) and found out what she has in store for the upcoming holiday season:

Couture: Do you have a lot of trunk shows and personal appearances in the upcoming holiday season?

Jennifer McCurry: Yes of course, being that we are in a resort market [Naples, FL], the lead up to the holiday season begins in late October/early November. We have a wonderful assortment of trunk shows this year including some exciting new designers for us, like Stephen Webster, as well as returning designers like Irene Neuwirth and Todd Reed.

Couture: How do you typically promote your trunk shows and PA’s?

JJ: We use a combination of classic methods, like direct mail and print advertising as well as with the constant evolution of MarissaCollections.com; we continue to find new platforms on which to reach our clients, like Instagram and Facebook. But it is the special relationships that our stylists have with each of our clients that really makes the difference.

Couture: What’s new and exciting in terms of product for the holiday season?

JJ: A return to the classics but with a contemporary twist, I’m really excited about diamonds again in classical settings, they somehow feel new and fresh. Smaller pieces with impact will be a big trend for us this season because they speak both to the aspirational client as well as our core. And you will always find one-of-a-kind pieces at Marissa Collections; we love to share the unique story behind those pieces with our clients who are looking for something special for the holidays.

Couture: What’s on YOUR holiday wish list?

JJ: This season I really hope Santa brings pieces like a diamond collar from Irene Neuwirth, a must for all this season, as well as a Sylva & Cie black diamond ID bracelet which I plan on layering with bangles and a watch.

Couture: What are you personally giving this season (give one example of a gift)?

JJ: I personally believe in sharing a part of myself with the gift I choose to give my friends and loved ones. Coffee table books, like “The Impossible Jewelry Collection” by Assouline, are great as hostess gifts or for the fashionista and jewelry lover. A great stocking stuffer for a anyone is the Skull Bead bracelets from Lucifer vir Honestus, which come in a variety of colors. And you can never go wrong with Cellcosmet, which restores your skin to its natural beauty following a season filled with late night celebrations.

Couture: Do you have any holiday traditions, either personal or family traditions?

JJ: Having lived on the beach for a number of years now, the one tradition that I look forward to every year is inviting my friends and family over for a dinner of King Crab legs and New England clam chowder from Kelly’s Fish House. Couture: What puts you in the holiday spirit? JJ: I’m a Mid-Western girl at heart, so the ritual of driving to the Christmas tree lot, the anticipation of its arrival and the thrill of knowing you picked out the right one as you and your friends trim the tree while drinking warm cider definitely puts me in the spirit!
