The husband and wife team behind Syna Jewels, Dharmesh (aka DK) and Namrata, are the sort of people who just feel good to be around. Whenever I see them throughout the Couture show and they ask me how I’m doing, they do so in such a way that I can tell they actually care what my response is going to be! And if I don’t look healthy enough for their liking, they usually admonish me to drink some tea, get more sleep, eat a vegetable, or wear more sensible shoes. They also have the most amazing, serene energy and infectious laughs, characteristics that personally, help keep me sane. We checked in with DK and Namrata to find out about their Vegas strategy and to get a look at some of the gorgeous gems they’ll be showcasing at Couture:
How many years have you been exhibiting at Couture?
SJ: We first showcased at Couture in 2010 – our fifth one this year!
What’s your packing strategy?
SJ: Make lists and follow through. As each year passes by, we’re forgetting fewer things.
What’s the oddest thing you bring with you?
SJ: Food wrap! They find us crazy but a lot of our supplies get food-wrapped back home.
Do you have any tips for staying sane during the show?
SJ: Avoid any negative energy and put your best smile on every morning.
Favorite restaurant in Vegas?
SJ: Wing Lei- they have the best tofu in town.
Vegas beauty routine?
SJ: Enough water, some green tea, salt-water dips for our aching feet and a good night rest.
Average number of hours you sleep each night during Couture?
SJ: Six to seven, depending on the oxygen flow at the Wynn
What are you most looking forward to this year?
SJ: Sharing our new collections – we’re so thrilled! What better place than Couture!
What are you dreading this year?
SJ: Couture really goes by too quick! It’s over before you know it.
SJ: Muddled Minty Mojitos
SJ: Lindt truffles – they keep us going all day!
SJ: Hotel California – the old classic, we absolutely love it!
SJ: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” – Leonardo da Vinci
