Elana Cutler came on board as Couture’s Sales Woman Extraordinaire (at least that should be her official title) in November of 2012. With just over 6 months to go before her first Couture show, Elana had to get up to speed with familiarizing herself with our brands as well as the overall event in general. I’ve got to admit, I was a little nervous about this…until I met Elana in person! First of all, I’ve never seen anyone develop more genuine interest and passion for jewelry in such a short period of time as Elana. Her wish list–and it is an actual wish list that she keeps on her phone and adds to daily–was longer than any I’ve seen within weeks of her coming on board. She also made sure she knew what she was talking about, identifying gemstones and metals as if she’d been in this racket her entire life. The other thing one notices almost immediately about Elana, other than her pronounced sense of humor, her dry wit and her incredible work ethic, is that she has almost as much passion for sweets as she does for jewelry! So (hint hint) if you’re wanting to get this girl a present at any time, both candy and jewelry are totally acceptable options! We caught up with Elana to see about her Las Vegas strategy:
How many years have you been working with Couture?
EC: This will be my 2nd Couture show.
What’s your packing strategy?
EC: Start shopping months before the show, pack the day before.
What’s the oddest thing you bring with you?
EC: A lint brush….I guess that isn’t that odd.
Do you have any tips for staying sane during the show?
EC: Take a minute here and there to go outside, see daylight, and breathe in some fresh air.
Favorite restaurant in Vegas?
EC: I don’t have one – I like to try new restaurants every time I’m in Las Vegas.
Average number of hours you sleep each night during Couture?
What are you most looking forward to this year?
EC: All of the amazing new jewelry!
What are you dreading this year?
EC: My feet hurting – no matter what shoes I wear, they will hurt!
EC: Vodka and soda with lime or a Mojito
